CME Information
The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)
has awarded the American Society of Hypertension, Inc. (ASH) the status
of a four (4) year term of Accreditation.
This decision was based on
the following components
 |
the Self Study submitted by ASH,
the purpose of which is for the accredited provider to assess its
commitment to and role in providing continuing medical education,
analyze its current practices, identify areas for improvement,
determine its future direction and effectively present the results
to the ACCME for re-accreditation purposes |

the evidence provided by ASH, to demonstrate
compliance with ACCME's Essential Areas, Elements and Policies |
 |
the Site Visit, including an interview with senior
ASH Staff and Dr. Donald Vidt, ASH CME Chairman, conducted Novemebr
8, 2002 by the ACCME Site Surveyors. |
Of the ten (10) elements which comprise the three
(3) Essential Areas, ASH received the status of "Compliance" in
nine (9) elements, and "Exemplary Compliance" in one
(1) element, Element 2.2, which states that the provider must use
needs
assessment data from
multiple sources to plan CME activities. Additionally, ASH received
the status of "Compliance" in the required Accreditation
Policies: 94-A-28, 98-B-08, 96-A-05, and 98-B-07.
ASH has begun the ACCME Reaccreditation Process for the 2007 Reaccreditation
Cycle. The Self Study will be sent to the ACCME in January 2007, and
the final decision will be given in Summer 2007.
As an accredited provider of continuing medical education
(CME), the American Society of Hypertension, Inc. (ASH) provides CME
credit for regional symposia held at other speciality society meetings,
such as theAmerican Diabetes Association (ADA) Annual Meeting and the
American Heart Association (AHA) Annual Meeting. These industry-supported
symposia are developed under the direction of the ASH CME Committee,
with strict adherence to ACCME, AMA, and PhRMA guidelines.
