CME Information

The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) has awarded the American Society of Hypertension, Inc. (ASH) the status of a four (4) year term of Accreditation.

This decision was based on the following components
the Self Study submitted by ASH, the purpose of which is for the accredited provider to assess its commitment to and role in providing continuing medical education, analyze its current practices, identify areas for improvement, determine its future direction and effectively present the results to the ACCME for re-accreditation purposes
the evidence provided by ASH, to demonstrate compliance with ACCME's Essential Areas, Elements and Policies
the Site Visit, including an interview with senior ASH Staff and Dr. Donald Vidt, ASH CME Chairman, conducted Novemebr 8, 2002 by the ACCME Site Surveyors.

Of the ten (10) elements which comprise the three (3) Essential Areas, ASH received the status of "Compliance" in nine (9) elements, and "Exemplary Compliance" in one (1) element, Element 2.2, which states that the provider must use needs assessment data from multiple sources to plan CME activities. Additionally, ASH received the status of "Compliance" in the required Accreditation Policies: 94-A-28, 98-B-08, 96-A-05, and 98-B-07.

ASH has begun the ACCME Reaccreditation Process for the 2007 Reaccreditation Cycle. The Self Study will be sent to the ACCME in January 2007, and the final decision will be given in Summer 2007.

As an accredited provider of continuing medical education (CME), the American Society of Hypertension, Inc. (ASH) provides CME credit for regional symposia held at other speciality society meetings, such as theAmerican Diabetes Association (ADA) Annual Meeting and the American Heart Association (AHA) Annual Meeting.
