Governance
The
Board of Directors of the American Society of Hypertension, Inc.
(ASH) serves as the management determining component for the organization.
Composed of current Members who are elected by the membership to
serve as either Officers [President, President-Elect, Secretary,
Treasurer, Immediate Past President and Executive Director] or
Directors-at-Large, the Board of Directors manages and coordinates
Society programs and activities with the active participation of
its Standing Committees [Executive Committee, Finance Committee,
Compensation Committee] and its Committees of the Corporation and
Chapters [Nominations, Chapter Board of Governors, Chapter Relations,
Continuing Medical Education (CME), Corporate Affairs, Membership,
Publications and Communications, Public Policy, and Scientific
Awards]. Each year during the Annual Scientific Meeting the Board
of Directors reports to the membership on the status of the Society
at its Annual Membership Meeting.
Eight (8) Chapters of the Society have been established
as separate organizations licensed by the Society throughout the United
States to extend and make present the mission of the Society at the
regional level, to identify new initiatives and pathways to implement
current clinical treatment strategies for hypertensive patients, as
well as to address the needs and interests of local members. Each Chapter
elects a representative to the Chapter Board of Governors, which coordinates
the programs and activities of the Chapters with those of the national
Society.
