ASH Comprehensive Hypertension Course
What is it?
The ASH Comprehensive Hypertension Course is an educational program designed and developed by ASH. Originally based on the Society’s Clinical Hypertension Review Course, this course emphasizes state-of-the-art scientific principles and evidence-based clinical practice.
It has eight (8) modules : Epidemiology, Pathophysiology of Hypertension, Disease Mechanisms, Evaluation of Hypertension, Antihypertensive Drug Classes, How to Interpret a Clinical Trial, Key Clinical Trials for Hypertension without Compelling Indications and Key Clinical Trials for Hypertension with Compelling Indications. Each session is designed to build upon the previous, and, upon completion of the course participants have a strong grasp of the specifics of Hypertension as a disease state as well as foundational knowledge of clinical trial progression. The Program also includes patient case presentations which enhance the didactic educational content and allow opportunity for interaction between registrants and faculty members. All elements of the course are designed to educate participants on the importance of a patient profile and effective treatment of Hypertension and related illnesses.

The Course (Hypertension Accreditation Program) is currently being provided to Daiichi Sankyo, Inc. Sales Representative. Daiichi Sankyo, Inc. is the first pharmaceutical company to have its entire Hypertension sales force enrolled for the Course. ASH has trained approximately 1,200 Sales Representatives supported by 25 selected Faculty Lecturers who are esteemed ASH Clinical Hypertension Specialists. For these representatives to become ASH Accredited, they complete approximately 10 hours of home study prior to the live course, 13 hours of intense classroom training over 2 ½ days, six hours of homework during the training program, and pass a 1 ½ hour written exam developed and administered by ASH.
