ASH Comments on ISHIB 2010 Update Consensus Statement On Management Of High Blood Presssure In Blacks

ASH welcomes and recognizes the outstanding contribution made by the International Society of Hypertension in Blacks (ISHIB) with the publication of its 2010 Update Consensus Statement on the Management of High Blood Pressure in Blacks (see press release at www.ishib.org). The document provides an updated approach for treating hypertension in Blacks and integrates new data with opinion regarding how implementation should proceed. The Report and editorial commentary that appeared in the October 4, 2010 edition of Hypertension Online, “New Recommendations for Treating Hypertension in Black Patients. Evidence and/or Consensus” contribute to the dialogue critically important for clinicians and researchers to achieve an approach that takes both the patient and the data from trials into account.”

ASH/ISHIB will collaborate on a joint session at the 2011 ASH Annual meeting in New York, providing further opportunity to discuss and highlight the ISHIB 2010 Consensus Statement.
