Committee Role & Function

SOCIETY EXPECTATIONS OF COMMITTEES

  • The Chair and Members of each Committee – in active collaboration with the Board of Directors--are responsible for determining the domain and responsibility of each respective Society Committee, and revising and restating same, as needed.
  • The Board of Directors –in active collaboration with the Chair and Members of each Committee--will submit Annual Charges to the Committee at the beginning of each Leadership Year.
  • The Chair and Members of each Committee will actively monitor and address issues relating to respective Committee domain—over and above Charges from the Board of Directors--submitting recommendations to the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors for review and action
  • The Chair and Members of each Committee are responsible for determining, strengthening and implementing the mission, goals and objectives of each Committee.
  • The Chair and Committee Members of each Committee are responsible for developing, maintaining and revising protocol to for Committee activities
  • The Board of Directors will appoint a Board Liaison and an ASH Staff Liaison for each Committee at the beginning of each calendar year
  • Each Committee will meet by telephone conference once every six (6) months, with in-person Committee Meetings scheduled as necessary, with the prior approval of the Board of Directors
  • The Chair of each Committee will submit an annual report at the National Leadership Conference at the beginning of each year, with interim reports, as appropriate
  • The Chair and Members of each Committee are encouraged to submit appropriate qualifications for ASH Members to serve on this Committee
  • The Chair and Members of each Committee are encouraged to submit recommendations for vacancies on the Committee to the Nomination Committee at the time of the Annual Call for Nominations for Vacant Positions

SOCIETY EXPECTATIONS OF NATIONAL COMMITTEE MEMBERS:

Board Members, National Committee Members are urged and encouraged to promote the Society with the following:

  • Promote membership in the Society among professional colleagues and young investigators
  • Promote abstract submission for the ASH Annual Scientific Meeting
  • Promote registration for the ASH Annual Scientific Meeting
  • Monitor the ASH Website on a regular basis
  • Submit manuscripts and promote manuscript submission to JASH
